Matthew Serves as Senior Pastor at First Baptist. His first Sunday with us was September 4, 2022. Matthew has a heart that loves Jesus, the church, and the people.
Matthew was Born March 21, 1983. Matthew graduated from Silsbee High School in 2001. Went on to study Culinary Arts in Houston. Matthew also graduated with a BA in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. He married his wife June 12, 2004. They would later have a son named Noah in 2018. Matthew has served in just about every role in the church. You can often find him playing games with the adults, chasing kids, and hanging out with the youth.
Matthew plans to continue his education through classes, seminars, and personal experiences. Matthew finds that learning to live for Christ is best when you study God's word, love God's people, and do God's will.
Matthew, Ashley, and Noah can often be found hanging out as a family. It is important to them to spend time with each other. They play games, play outside, and love to hang out with Meme, Memaw, aunts and uncles, and all the cousins.

James Collins
Associate Pastor
James Collins serves as the Associate Pastor. He leads our music ministry, provides leadership during worship times and leads in many other ministries, such as our Senior Adults. He also spends his time in pastoral care and administration.
James was born on January 19 to Doris and Leroy Collins in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was raised in nearby Kerrville and graduated high school from Tivy. James accepted Christ when he was 8 years old and was called to the ministry while in Junior High.
James graduated from Howard Payne University in 1971 and did extended studies at Howard Payne. He has served in different ministries which includes churches in Kerrville, Lytle, Brownwood, El Campo, Bay City, Fredericksburg, and Palacios.
James and his wife Lori Ann have three children and 4 grandchildren. During his free time, he loves to hunt, fish, and go antiquing. He also loves trains and has built a model train layout.
