First Baptist Church of Palacios, Texas

Matthew Serves as Senior Pastor at First Baptist. His first Sunday with us was September 4, 2022. He looks forward in serving in the church, and in the community. Matthew has a heart that loves Jesus, the church, and the people. 

Matthew was Born March 21, 1983. Matthew graduated from Silsbee High School in 2001. Went on to study Culinary Arts in Houston. Matthew also graduated with a BA in Biblical Studies from Liberty University. He married his wife June 12, 2004. They would later have a son named Noah in 2018. Matthew has served in just about every role in the church. You can often find him playing games with the adults, chasing kids, and hanging out with the youth.  

Matthew plans to continue his education through classes, seminars, and personal experiences. Matthew finds that learning to live for Christ is best when you study God's word, love God's people, and do God's will. 

Matthew, Ashley, and Noah can often be found hanging out as a family. It is important to them to spend time with each other. They play games, play outside, and love to hang out with Meme, Memaw, aunts and uncles, and all the cousins.

Lena serves as the secretary at First Baptist. She is the granddaughter of members Mark and Lisa Goff. Lena is also the pianist at First United Methodist Church of Palacios. 

Lena was born on May 5, 2002, and graduated from Palacios High School in 2020. She grew up going to church with her grandparents in her hometown of Boling, Texas. She played the piano for Iago Federated Church before moving to Palacios and becoming a member of First Baptist Palacios. 

Lena has a background in Graphic Design and Media and worked for Palacios I.S.D. as a Graphic Design intern the summer between graduation and her first semester at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi where she studied Media Production. Lena enjoys reading, coffee shops, antiquing, and photography. She also enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog and cat, Heidi and Bubba.
